Twenty in a Row

The run did not stop at the end of game two. Game three opened with nine consecutive strikes before a 9 in the tenth, so counting across the two games he struck twenty times in a row, from the second frame of game two to the ninth frame of game three.

That put a second 300 in play: nine strikes to open game three, with the front nine complete and three shots left to go. The first ball of the tenth left a single pin, which ended it. He covered the spare and struck the fill ball for a 279.

04

The 827 Series

Games of 258, 290 and 279 for an 827, a 275.7 average.

His third series over 800, and the second of them in sanctioned play, 24 pins better than the 803 at the Frictionless Frenzy in March.

86% strikes across the three games, with every spare converted and no splits left.

The pocket on every first ball of the set, carrying 86% of them.

05

Across the Three Games

Thirty of his first balls struck, every one of them found the pocket, and the ones that did not carry left single pins that he covered. No splits, and no open frames anywhere in the set.

The two shots that mattered most were the ones that did not strike: the first ball of game two, and the first ball of the tenth in game three. Both came back as spares, and the next shot after each one was a strike.
