A Near-Perfect 299
Four games, 888 total, and a near-perfect 299 — good for 2nd in a 91-bowler U14 Boys field, just 24 pins off the lead.
Overview
The DV8 Bowl4Life Youth Shootout bills itself as the best challenge before and after Junior Gold, and it lived up to it. The format is four games — two games each on two tough oil patterns — bowled on the 9 a.m. squad at Bogart's Entertainment Center in Apple Valley, Minnesota. Both patterns came straight off the 2021 Junior Gold slate: the 39-foot TV Finals #8 (all divisions) and the 35-foot Qualifying 11 (U18/U20). It's a PBA Junior Tier 3 event and a 2027 Junior Gold qualifier, and every bowler takes home a new DV8 release.
Game by Game
| Game | Pattern | Score | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | TV Finals #8 · 39 ft | 152 | A grind out of the gate |
| 2 | TV Finals #8 · 39 ft | 202 | Settled in |
| 3 | Qualifying 11 · 35 ft | 299 | One pin from perfect |
| 4 | Qualifying 11 · 35 ft | 235 | Stayed hot |
Two Patterns, Two Stories
Two games each on the 39-foot Junior Gold TV Finals #8 and the 35-foot Qualifying 11. The longer 39 was a battle — a 152 to open before a 202 steadied things for a 354 block. Moving down to the shorter 35 flipped the script: the lane read far more predictably, and Arryn fired a near-perfect 299 and a 235 for a 534 block — 180 pins clear of the long pattern.
2nd in the Field
That 888 landed Arryn 2nd in a 91-bowler U14 Boys field, 24 pins behind the winner, Nemehiah Keefer, who posted a 912 — a runner-up finish across two demanding patterns before Junior Gold week.
