National Champion

Junior Gold is the largest and deepest youth bowling championship in the country, and in 2026 Arryn won it — becoming the first-ever U14 Boys national champion in the division's inaugural year. In Minneapolis, across three houses and against a field of 388, he came through five days and every stage of the format — sixteen games of cumulative qualifying, two advancer rounds, a double-elimination match-play bracket, and a televised stepladder — to be crowned national champion.

The climb tells the story. Arryn qualified 3rd of 388, held 3rd through both advancer rounds to earn the No. 3 match-play seed, then went 3-1 in the winners' bracket. His only loss was the winners' final to No. 1 seed Treavor Mason — and he answered it on the biggest stage, beating Mason twice in the title match to win it all.

Reaching the top 16 turned the event into a bracket. Arryn entered as the No. 3 seed, in a double-elimination format where every match is a two-game head-to-head total.

He won three in a row in the winners' bracket — past No. 14 seed Griffin Roseberry, No. 6 seed Jon Abigania, and No. 15 seed Eli Franco — to reach the winners' final undefeated. There, No. 9 seed Treavor Mason posted a 407 to Arryn's 318 to take the No. 1 line. As the loser of the winners' final, Arryn earned the No. 2 seed straight into the televised finals, and a rematch was set up if both could get there.

The national title came down to a three-bowler televised stepladder, moved to a third house — Cedarvale Lanes on July 18 — with Arryn on it as the No. 2 seed. He opened against No. 3 seed Nehemiah Keefer in a match that went the distance — decided in the tenth frame, where Arryn doubled to win 194 to 182 and reach the championship match.

Waiting there was Treavor Mason, the No. 1 seed, unbeaten through the bracket and the only bowler to have beaten Arryn all week. Because Mason came in without a loss, Arryn had to beat him twice.

In the first game, Arryn dug out of an early deficit with a seven-strike run on shots five through eleven and won by 21, 245 to 224, forcing the decisive game. In the second, he opened with five straight strikes before back-to-back trouble frames — a 1-2-4-6-10 super washout he couldn't cover, then a chopped 3-6-10 split — let Mason creep within twelve pins with two frames to go. But Mason left a 4-9 split in the ninth, Arryn struck to answer, and a strike and a spare in the tenth closed it out at 220 to 187 to crown him the 2026 Junior Gold U14 Boys National Champion.

The opening TV match — No. 2 Arryn against No. 3 Nehemiah Keefer — came down to who bowled the cleaner game. Keefer started hot with a double, but three open frames in the middle bled pins, and his fifth frame was the killer: a split left for just a 5-count, his only single-digit frame.

Arryn's line was the tidier one. He had two open frames of his own, both splits, but he counted 8 and 9 pins on them — he never left more than two pins standing all game. He carried an 11-pin lead into the tenth (164 to 153), and when Keefer struck out the front of his tenth for 182, Arryn answered with a double that mathematically clinched it, then added a third strike for a turkey and a 194. Seven strikes to five, two opens to three, and the close when it counted.

Because Mason came in unbeaten, Arryn had to win two games to take the crown. In the first he trailed early — an open second frame — then caught fire with a seven-strike run from the fifth frame on to win 245 to 224. In the deciding game he opened with five straight strikes, weathered two open frames in the middle (a 1-2-4-6-10 washout in the sixth, a chopped 3-6-10 split in the eighth), and closed with a strike and a spare for a 220 to 187 win and the national title.

A year ago at Junior Gold in Green Bay, a near-beginner climbed to 244th of 646 and it was a triumph of development. In 2026 the story is a national title. Arryn qualified third of 388, seeded third into match play, and then bowled his best when it counted most — going 3-0 on television and beating the one bowler who had his number to win the whole thing.

The shape of the run is the tell. Long-format qualifying breaks bowlers who fade; Arryn got stronger every block, carried it into head-to-head match play, and closed under the brightest lights of the youth season. Winning Junior Gold, the deepest youth tournament in the country, in the same year he was still relatively early in his competitive career, is the defining result of the run.
